At the time of going to press, the world is in lockdown as a result of the coronavirus. The truth is, when the print magazine arrives with you no-one really knows how far or how fast the virus will have spread. For our part, here at TRAIN, we are going to carry on as normal and keep bringing you the best and most up-to-date advice about everything to do with fitness and health.

Like everyone, we hope the pandemic will pass quickly, but if it doesn’t, we’ll try to adjust our content to match your changing fitness needs. First of all though, we need to address what you might be worried about: touching the print edition of the magazine. So here’s the latest information on this topic.

1. PAPER IS SAFE
The World Health Organisation has deemed it safe to receive packages such as newspapers, even from areas which have had reported cases of coronavirus. They said: “The likelihood of an infected person contaminating commercial goods is low and the risk of catching the virus that causes Covid-19 from a package that has been moved, traveled, and exposed to different conditions and temperature is also low.” There has never been a single case of the virus being transmitted by print.

2. SURFACES MATTER
A paper in The New England Journal of Medicine contained a comprehensive study on the topic and found that the virus was detectable on copper for four hours, on cardboard for up to 24 hours and on plastic and steel for up to 72 hours. But it’s important to note that the amount of the virus decreased rapidly over time on each of those surfaces and that our printing and shipping facilities are all handled either by machinery or by people who are fully protected. If you want to be extra cautious then wipe the plastic cover with a cleaning agent or disinfectant when you receive it.

3. YOU’LL KEEP GETTING YOUR SUPPLEMENTS
Sports supplements have been deemed by the CISA and Department of Homeland Security an essential service so you will continue to receive your favorite supplements that assist your goals and increase your immunity, and with them you’ll get your copy of TRAIN magazine.
